01Who we are
Twnship ("we", "us", "our") is a software platform for Indian housing societies, operated from S.A.S Nagar, Mohali, India. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA), Twnship is the Data Fiduciary for personal data collected through this website and our apps.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.
02What data we collect
Account & identity
- Name, email address, and phone number
- Society name, flat number, and role
- Profile photo, if you add one
Billing & transactions
- Maintenance amounts and due dates
- UPI transaction references and status
- Invoice and receipt records
- We never store card numbers or UPI PINs
Usage & device
- Pages visited and features used
- Device type, OS, and app version
- IP address and city-level location
- Crash logs to help us fix bugs
Society operations
- Visitor logs (name, vehicle, entry/exit)
- Complaint records and photos you upload
- Staff attendance and task records
- Notice board posts and announcements
03How we use your data
We use personal data only for these purposes:
- Providing the service — running the platform, processing payments, sending receipts, and enabling all features
- Account management — onboarding, support, password resets, and account notifications
- Safety & fraud prevention — detecting suspicious activity and protecting accounts
- Improving the product — understanding how features are used to fix problems and build better tools
- Legal compliance — meeting obligations under Indian law, including tax records and regulatory audits
We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not build marketing profiles. We do not send unsolicited promotional messages.
04Who we share data with
We share personal data only with service providers that help us operate the platform. All such providers are bound by data processing agreements:
- Payment processors — to handle UPI, card, and net banking transactions securely
- SMS & WhatsApp providers — to send OTPs, receipts, and society notifications (India-based)
- Resend — transactional email delivery (receipts, OTPs, alerts), hosted in Ireland (AWS eu-west-1). Only the content of the email and recipient address is shared; no other personal data
- Cloud infrastructure — servers and storage for all society and resident data located within India
- Analytics tools — anonymised usage data only; no personally identifiable information
We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any party not directly involved in operating Twnship.
05Security
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher
- All data at rest is encrypted using AES-256
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only
- We conduct regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments
- Payment flows are PCI-DSS compliant through our payment processor
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required under DPDPA 2023.
06Data retention
- Active accounts — data is retained for the duration of your subscription
- After account closure — personal data is deleted or anonymised within 90 days, unless legally required otherwise
- Financial records — payment and invoice records are retained for 7 years under Indian accounting law
- Visitor logs — retained for 12 months, then automatically purged
07Cookies & tracking
- Essential cookies — required for login sessions and security. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how the platform is used. Optional — opt out via the cookie banner on first visit.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party marketing pixels.
08Children's privacy
Twnship is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided data without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
09Changes to this policy
When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Twnship after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
